What's involved with working for Playful Paws?

Perks of the job

  • Getting paid to play with pets!

  • No sitting behind a desk! You're outdoors being active & on the move throughout the day

  • Flexible schedules

  • Work as little or as much as you'd like - come on board for just overnights, just lunchtime walking, just boarding, etc

Things to Note:

  • This is an as-needed job, meaning there will not always be a weekly set-schedule and would work great as a supplemental income. Some weeks may be very busy for you while others are empty. The amount of clients you're provided with depends solely on your availability and demand in your location

  • This is a job that requires availability to work while our clients play, meaning we work weekends and holidays.

  • Must have experience working with animals, previous employment references, and pass a clean background check

  • Must be reliable, organized, punctual, & able to manage time responsibly, often effectively organizing several clients into a strict timeframe

  • Detail-oriented and patience is a critical aspect. Must correctly administer medications and/or follow client directions accurately every single time, have patience walking slow, older dogs, display professionalism communicating with clients, and know when to go the extra mile without being asked. Above all, the position requires a good attitude and desire to please clients & love their fur babies.

  • Flexible and frequent availability including holidays & weekends

  • A working smartphone with the capability to text regularly, communicate with clients, and add photos through Paw Portal App

  • Ability to think & act quickly on your feet in case of emergency

  • A people-person who can make pet owners feel comfortable & at-ease upon meeting, not afraid to get on the floor and interact with pets

  • Comfortable with all types of pets, breeds, and different temperaments. Must be comfortable and able to walk large dogs and/or dogs that may pull on the leash

  • Not afraid to get your hands dirty and clean up waste, litter boxes, clean dirty animals, and accidents in the home

  • Reliable car to commute between daily clients.

  • Must live within our service area and be at least 20 years of age

Daily tasks for walkers & sitters

  • Commuting between daily clients, overnight sitting, or boarding dogs in your home (applicants are also accepted for just one of the 3)

  • Walking dogs rain or shine (given safe weather conditions)

  • Feeding, changing water, administering medication per client instructions including both pills and injections (will be trained)

  • Cleaning up accidents or litter boxes and disposing of properly, washing out pet bowls, wiping down countertops, light sweeping if needed, and leaving the home as if you were never there

  • Bringing in mail, newspapers, packages for clients, as well as taking out trash and watering plants (if requested)

  • Giving our furry clients lots of love, attention, brushing, & petting!
